Product Description

Regional adaptation in DTT networks is a critical differentiator for network operators wishing to provide their viewers with competitive TV services. The CP330 T2-Bridge offers three operational modes for enabling regional adaptation in Single Frequency Networks (SFN).

The CP330’s T-Bridge and T2-Bridge modes offer a flexible and highly cost effective solution for regional adaptation at DVB-T and DVB-T2 transmitter sites respectively. By using T-VIPS’ deterministic remultiplexing technology, these two modes enable feeding of transmitters in multiple SFN regions using the same Transport Stream (TS) as used in a pre-existing Direct to Home (DTH) satellite system.

The CP330’s PLP Replacer mode enables local content insertion at DVB-T2 transmitter sites and allows terrestrial operators to “piggy-back“ a Direct To Home (DTH) infrastructure for primary distribution to DTT transmitter sites in multiple SFN regions. The CP330 in PLP replacer mode exploits the Multiple Physical Layer Pipe (M-PLP) capability of DVB-T2 and enables the insertion of local content by adapting an incoming national T2-MI feed and a regional T2-MI/Transport Stream (TS) feed.

The CP330’s T/T2-Bridge mode used in conjunction with the CP525 cMux Remultiplexer, and PLP Replacer mode used in conjunction with the CP560 DVB-T2 Gateway, may be used for primary distribution in DTT networks. At the transmitter sites the CP330 adapts the incoming Transport Stream or T2-MI stream and generates the exact same transmitter feed for all transmitters in the SFN region to ensure robust SFN operation.

T-Bridge and T2-Bridge mode

• Deterministic remultiplexing using Time Marker Packets (TMP)

• Rate adaptation and in-band configuration

- Rate adjustments are carried out in a deterministic manner for all CP330s in an SFN region

- Outgoing rate parameters are defined by the CP525 cMUX Remultiplexer at the head-end

• PID filtering and remapping

- Remapping of incoming PSI/SI tables to standard PIDs

• Deterministic PCR restamping

- PCR restamping to avoid jitter due to rate adaptation

- Deterministic restamping process - outputs from several CP330s with identical configurations will be identical - bit for bit


PLP Replacer mode

• Regional adaptation

- PLP Replacement: Replacement of PLPs in a  centrally generated T2-MI stream with regional PLPs

- Local content insertion: Insertion of a TS into a regional PLP in a T2-MI stream

• PLP ID remapping

• Rate adaptation and in-band configuration

- Uses the input rate from the national T2-MI feed

- Outgoing rate parameters are defined by the CP560 DVB-T2 Gateway at the head-end

• Fallback to national feed in the event of power loss
